Marketing your local business on the internet has become a required source of advertising if you want to stay in business. Times have changed and so has the way people search for and find local businesses.

Phone books and newspapers are almost useless for local advertising.

Newspaper circulation is drastically falling in almost every market. People aren’t going to pay for a local newspaper when they can get the exact same information online for free. This means your local newspaper ads are becoming less and less seen.

I know you think it’s impossible to be on page one of Google for your keywords, but you are wrong this is far easier than you would think. When you add your local market to your search keyword the competition is next to nothing. In fact in most cases you can take page 1 in just a week or so.

So what does this mean?

Instead of targeting “business marketing” target “Cleveland Ohio business marketing“. Simply add your city and state. This works with any industry. Accounting becomes Cleveland Ohio Accounting. Not only does this provide more targeted traffic but it will also allow you to rank high quickly.

What is a URL / Website rotator?

A website rotator gives you the ability to advertise multiple URL’s using just one link. There are many different uses for URL rotators.

Split testing: Rotators are great for testing ad copy on sales pages, conversion of landing pages or capture pages or anything you can think of where you want to test the difference between two versions of the same page or offer.

Rotate Biz opps: Entrepreneurs commonly use rotators to advertise multiple business opportunities. This is especially good when using bulk traffic. They simply advertise the one link and all of there opportunity websites will receive traffic.

So here is a little more detail on exactly how they work. first you need an account with a rotator service. I use www.bizrotator.com mainly because I own it. LOL I have a FREE URL Rotator membership and a PRO URL rotator membership.

Now that you have an account created you simply log into your account and add the destination URL’s to your rotator. Your rotator will have a specific URL which you send traffic to. Your URL will look like this. http://www.bizrotator.com/ro.php?id=1388 each visitor to this URL will see a different site.

Want to know why your website does not produce results?

The answer is simple. There are a few reasons but the main reason is it’s not set up right. Here are a few common mistakes.

• It does not provide value: This 2009 times have changed, so has the internet and people expectation of your website. Having a website is not enough. Your site needs to provide value, you need to over deliver, you need to use your site to build trust and relationships. Your website is an extension of you and your business, you only get one first impression make it as good one.
• Your site is too stuffy and outdated: Once again this is 2009 things are different now. People want to be able to connect with you and your business on a personal level. The all business design to a website will not keep anyone at your site. You need fresh content on your site, weekly or even daily. Blogs provide this ability for anyone.
• Your site is  not making to most of each visitor: Getting someone to your site is not that hard. Getting them to trust you enough to buy from you becomes the task at hand. This is where value comes in. Your site should be a well oiled machine that collect visitors, provides them with value, collects names and email addresses and follows up with them automatically, building value and trust as time goes on.Just because some visits your website today that does not mean they are ready to buy right now. They may not buy for 2 weeks, but will they remember you in two weeks? It is unlikely they will not remember you nor will they be able to find your site again.

  Unless! Your make a good enough  first impression by providing a tremendous amount of value or you collect their name and email address and follow up with them via email.

• Your site does not have a great newsletter: Newsletter are the key to collecting email addresses, names and phone numbers. Having a newsletter does you no good unless someone joins it. You need to offer extreme value which makes people want to join your newsletter.This again is where value come in. Google Adwords is an amazing place to advertise it is also a very dangerous place to advertise. One wrong move can cost you hundreds or even thousands of wasted advertising money. That being said if you do every thing right it becomes a goldmine.

Fighting for root keywords will not be your best bet, until you have a high converting landing page. Let me put this into perspective for you. If you own an accounting firm, advertising on keyword accounting or accounting services nationally is not a good idea.  You can target these keywords but make sure you are only targeting your geographic area. This will reduce the amount of results but it will limited your ads to only your area. This increasing targeted prospects.

The next move you should make is to target local keywords, this is the same for SEO as it is for Google PPC. Do some keyword research on root keywords. IE: accounting. (Here is a great tool use for research. Google Keyword Tool) Find the most searched key phrases and add your city, county or state to teh end of it. This technique is not very well know or used.

So add key phrase “accounting Cleveland” “accounting Cleveland Ohio” “business marketing services Cleveland Ohio” ETC. If your root keyword is highly searched you will see a good amount of very targeted visitors clicking on these ads.

Don’t stop at just your city, think or surrounding cities, counties, commonly misspelled cities, ETC, think outside the box. This works wonders with SEO also. Chances are your competition is not using these techniques. This leaves the door wide open for you.

There are two big determining factors to your site ranking in Google.

This post is all about back links what they are and how they will help you. This post will focus on RSS feed submission.

This post assumes you already know what an RSS feed is, for infomation on what an RSS feed is visist Wikipedia.

The more backlinks pointing to your site the more important Google feels your site is. RSS feeds provide an easy way for you to get fresh content all over the web every time you write a new post.

RSS directories are a great way to get backlinks to your site.

First create your blog and get a lot of good content up on it before submitting to to any RSS directory. This will assure you a higher approval rate.

Second visit each of the sites below and submit your RSS feed. If you are using a wordpress blog your feed will most likely be located at www.yourdomain.com/feed.

When visitiong these sites you may have to search around for a bit to find the submission link, look for add feed, or submit feed on each site.

Do not add your site to all of these in one day. I suggest adding your site to 10 a day.
